I have been dancing since age 3 and both myself and my sister thoroughly enjoy it! We have had the privilege and opportunity to perform at several cultural events in our city. I am very passionate about this art form and am happy to share my love for dance!
To have a positive and fun filling experience, I urge you to pick up dance as a hobby! It’s a perfect way to become more confident, stay healthy, mentally, and physically!
When one dances on the stage, they truly engage in the passion for dance and forget all else. This can help to boost self-esteem as it increases their belief in themselves and this can also increase self-confidence.
Dancing enables us to stay positive and active. Through dance, various types of emotions can be expressed- whether it be fear or anger and dance allows these emotions to be let go and bring happiness instead! This is because dance can help release endorphins which can boost your mood. Furthermore, dancing is a form of physical activity that helps you to stay fit in an enjoyable manner. It constantly keeps your body moving and can improve flexibility and coordination.
There are many styles of dance to choose from – Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, and many more. There are also many classical Indian dances such as Bollywood, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, and many others. To decide which style of dance to pursue depends on what you want – something like Ballet is more of a smooth, soft dance vs something like Bharatanatyam which is used to express Indian epics like the Ramayana. Even within Bharatnatyam, there are different styles such as Kalakshetra, Melathoor, Pandanalloor, and more.
Dance is also really good because it is socially beneficial. There are various dance teams with each style of dance. Joining a dance team can be beneficial because it allows for a good social dynamic and can help spark friendships.
Ultimately, all types of dance have the same benefits and can really make a positive difference in your life! Dance your way through life!
