AIMIA | AGO PHOTOGRAPHY PRIZE ANNOUNCES 2016 WINNER

Photographer Ursula Schulz-Dornburg receives $50,000 prize

The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and Aimia are pleased to announce the winner of the 2016 Aimia | AGO Photography Prize. Chosen by public vote, Ursula Schulz-Dornburg will receive C$50,000. Runners-up Talia Chetrit (USA), Jimmy Robert (France)and Elizabeth Zvonar (Canada) will each receive $5,000 to support their photography practices.

Developed through an innovative partnership between the AGO and Aimia, a Montreal-based global leader in data-driven marketing and loyalty analytics, the Aimia | AGO Photography Prize is an internationally renowned award for contemporary photography, recognizing Canadian and international artists whose work has exhibited extraordinary potential over the preceding five years. Cranberry Christmas Market

Presented by Mississauga Arts Council

Put on your ear muffs and mittens and get ready for a unique shopping experience while supporting local artists with the Mississauga Arts Council (MAC). MAC is excited to announce a brand new tradition to the MAC family, the Cranberry Christmas Market, featuring 30 local artists and artisans. The Cranberry Christmas Market runs from 10 am until 5 pm on Saturday December 3, 2016 at Clarke Memorial Hall located at 161 Lakeshore Road West in Port Credit.

MAC suggests a donation of a non-perishable food item or monetary donation to The Compass food bank. Our artisan vendors will be selling a unique collection of handcrafted goods such as: eco-friendly jewelry, décor, throws, wellness teas, soaps, body products, paper and some delicious baked goods! Choose from a variety of gifts including original photography, books, fair trade coffee, and artisan wood pieces. Don’t forget to get your gifts hand wrapped! Calvacade of Lights 2016 – with Kiran Ahluwalia

Celebrate the 50th annual Cavalcade of Lights presented by Great Gulf on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Nathan Phillips Square. This holiday tradition features the first illumination of Toronto’s Official Christmas Tree, spectacular fireworks, a skating party, and performances by some of Canada’s top musical talen, including Kiran Ahluwalia.
Kiran Ahluwalia is an Indian singer, songwriter who infuses African desert blues and Western musical styles. Kiran Ahluwalia won the ‘Newcomer’ category in the inaugural Songlines Music Awards (2009) – announced May 1, 2009 – the new ‘world music’ awards organised by the UK-based magazine, Songlines.

(Nov. 22, 2016) – The Recording Academy® and CBS announced today that James Corden, the Emmy- and Tony Award-winning multi-faceted host of CBS’ “The Late Late Show With James Corden,” will host the  59th Annual GRAMMY Awards®, marking his first year as master of ceremonies for Music’s Biggest Night®. Taking place at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, the GRAMMY Awards will be broadcast live in HDTV and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Network, Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, 8 p.m.ET / 5 p.m. PT.

EVIL HAS A NEW FACE – CHECK OUT AKSHAY KUMAR’S LATEST VILLAINOUS AVATAR FOR ROBOT 2.0

Amid huge fanfare and a cine extravaganza, the filmmakers of 2.0 starring superstar Akshay Kumar and Indian film legend Rajinikanth, finally launched the first look of the film at an event in Mumbai.

Akshay Kumar took to his Twitter handle to unveil the poster with his character in the film simply tweting: “Evil has a new face!”The superstar is playing an antagonist called Richard, who turns into a Crow Man after an experiment goes wrong.
