Families are invited to spend the April Break enjoying five days of free, online programming courtesy of the AGO, the Canadian Opera Company and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Mixing artmaking with performance and behind-the-scenes highlights, kids of all ages can log on daily from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST, Monday, April 12 to Friday, April 16, for a cross-country arts break. Led by art educators and specialists, each day’s programming offers themed artmaking activities and moderated discussion.
This week of virtual spring break programs will consider the many ways we can express our ideas, identities and stories using real, imagined and dream-worthy themes like Underwater, Underground, Playspace, Outerspace and Intergalactic. Each session is by a specialist artist and/or trained educator who are inspired by marvelous artworks, and who will offer imaginative activities that you can make from home.
Watch for simple material lists for each program, or simply follow along with what you have on hand. These programs are fun for all ages – they combine artmaking with thinking about art in a safe space. You can always ask questions and share your own masterpieces using #SpringIntoArt.
