Today, representatives of Toronto Paramedic Services, the Toronto Paramedic Association and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Society delivered an ambulance full of food and cash to be weighed at Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank.
The result was a donation of 1,516 pounds (687.65 kilograms) and $12,900 collected from employees of Toronto Paramedic Services and members of the Toronto Paramedic Association during the past eight weeks and from generous attendees at yesterday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.
“Whether you’re measuring in dollars or pounds, this annual food drive was a success and we are thrilled with the results,” said Deputy Chief Michael Neill. “The momentum for this campaign grows every year and I want to thank our employees for their generous donations as well as the members of the public who helped us all achieve our goal.”
This is the fourth year Toronto Paramedic Services, the Toronto Paramedic Association and the St. Patrick’s Parade Society have collaborated to fundraise for Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank. Over the last four years, 4,441 pounds (2,014.4 kilograms) and $16,200 has been donated.
“Every $1 collected provides a full meal to someone in need in our city,” said Shaun Ruddy, President of the St. Patrick’s Parade Society. “To be able to have provided 12,900 meals to those who are hungry in our city through the Daily Bread Food Bank is a blessing for our organization.”
