President Trump Recognizes India Day Grand Celebration

(Naperville, Illinois) On the 70th anniversary of India’s independence, President Donald J. Trump, will recognize the occasion with an official letter, declaring in part, “Thanks to the irreplaceable contributions of Hindu and Indian Americans, the future of our valued partnership has never looked brighter, and we continue to foster even greater cooperation for future generations.”

The letter will be presented at the India Day Grand Celebration, tomorrow (August 13, 2017) in Naperville. Hosted by the Indian Community Outreach Organization and sponsored by the Republican Hindu Coalition, the celebration is one of the largest Indian American festivals in the United States.

The event, which is free to the public, will feature food, floats, fashion, and fireworks, along with shopping and classical and modern Indian dance. India’s most popular Bollywood Stars will headline the show, and statesman Nigel Farage is traveling from the United Kingdom to bring special greetings for the occasion. Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner is also scheduled to attend.

“This will be the most spectacular year in the history of this celebration,” said Shalli Kumar, chairman of the Republican Hindu Coalition. “We expect more than 20,000 members of our community, family, and friends. And we salute Krishna Bansal and the Indian Community Outreach Organization for the rich tradition it has created.”

The activities, which begin at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Knoch Park—724 S. West Street, Naperville, Illinois—will feature a:

  • local talent show at 12:30 p.m.;
  • parade at 2:00 p.m.;
  • introduction and speeches at 6:00 p.m.;
  • concert at 7:00 p.m.; and
  • fireworks at 9:15 p.m.

The mission of the India Day Grand Celebration is to embrace, preserve and promote the cultural heritage and contributions of Indian Americans while educating them to get involved in America’s growth. More information about the organization is available at:www.indiancommunityoutreach.com.
